This is brilliantly written, Shantanu! Loved reading this one :)

It almost seemed like a documentary in itself with so much to imbibe & learn with some amazing leadership values, and management mantras as you rightly said.

This is so well written that it captures one’s mind out of intrigue, to want to read more. I just finished watching the Romantics and finally read this article! It’s like butter to bread! An absolute delight to read with jaw opening instances and lessons. Inspiring work!! Aditya Chopra is a genius, and your words are magic! This is great!

This was a great infotainment piece , showing that your writing skills have been intact over decades. So much to learn from Aditya Chopra who has using his own acumen always remained ahead of times and the beauty of it is that he puts audience first and everything else to work for that.

Thanks, Swapneel. You nailed it. Audience (or consumer) first - such a simple rule, but the best of them tend to forget it.

And no prizes for guessing who your first day movie watching influencer was ....

As much as I love this piece, I’ve always lamented the Chopras moving from making powerful big canvas dramas to sellable love stories seemed like a cop out.

That's a topic for a sit down session. ;-)

I think it has also to do with getting good stories to direct. Since the split of Salim-Javed, there hasn't been another writer who has come up with powerful 'drama' stories. Guess the Chopra's realised that action or dramas are more like trends that keep coming back and that romance is for all seasons. At the end of the day, he is running a business. The good thing is that Adi has kept YRF distinct from Chopra's as far as movie genres are concerned. So while he continues to make romantic movies as a director, YRF dabbles in all genres.

Phew! What was that genre? A documentry? A narrative? An education film? Or like Adi, an element of all of it for your diverse audinece!! Superbly narrated, summarized and the distilled the learnings. Kudos to you and your memory (With memoirs to support, am sure)
