Music as an asset class is uncorrelated to traditional asset classes. This was music to my ears. I wonder whether KKR invests in music through their equity or bond portfolios.
Yes, it did come as a surprise to me that private equity firms were also in the business of buying out rights. I thought it was only music companies. But when I read the reasons, it made sense. Though they’ll have to create a separate division to hawk the rights - it’s a completely different business model from their core. I guess when there’s enough money at their disposal they can set up anything. To answer your question, I wouldn’t know whether they invest through equity or bonds. That’s homework for you :-)
