The thinking around what my next post would be usually starts the moment my post gets published and invariably continues till Tuesday evening a fortnight later, when I am left with no choice but to sit down and start writing to publish by Wednesday evening. I normally toss around a few topics in my head before zeroing down on one to publish. This time round, though, I hit a block. I was almost resigned to writing a short apology post stating that I just didn’t have any topic that I could develop for you to read. Till it dawned on me that that my post was scheduled for June 5
It was enjoyable and also gave good learning . Makes one realize that so much goes behind the scenes in both print and media . Makes me wonder that why in childhood we used to see and enjoy advertisements, specially on TV . But , now tendency is to switch to another channel or skip on you tube etc .
My take on your wonderment is that we were quite deprived on the entertainment front with only one channel that would run for a few fixed hours everyday. So whatever was shown on TV, we devoured it. As a result many of those ads have been imprinted in our memory. Now, with a plethora of channels at our disposal 24X7, we have become more impatient. And because of that the storytelling aspect of advertising has taken a backseat and only product claims and product demos are what get beamed to people. Hence the switching to another channel or skipping ads. We have the IPL which is the Super Bowl equivalent here. But there is a mandate that an ad has to be 20 secs duration so that the broadcaster is able to milk the inventory to the max and sign on more sponsors to get more revenues since they have paid obscene amounts of money to get the rights.
That was a good read and loved going thru all the amazing ads that you had posted. It was a feast to watch some of those ads after such a long time. But like they say...Old is GOLD :)

Thanks, Chetan. Even I had a good time revisiting many of those ads.
Also thanks for your love affair with advertising...that's how we met as well 😃
Yes, of course!
