‘Timeless’ is so well explored by you in this article that I am short of words to express myself ! In our own ways we do notice these ‘timeless’ treasures but seldom pay attention to them . What you say about the ‘Mahabharat’ is so apt and yet I find an increasing number of youngsters either not reading it (forget understanding it) or being completely ignorant about it …

And your encouraging comments are always I look forward to, Avinash. Thank you for your kind words. Nice way you’ve differentiated between notice vs paying attention. Lack of paying attention is a social media inflicted ailment. Unfortunately timeless things can’t be compressed in byte sized pieces. And that’s a fallacy of the times right now, and for times to come. The meaning of the word epic in the modern context is so diluted now that it’s a tall ask to get someone to even know of one, let alone understand or appreciate it.

Yes agreed.. it has got to be hard to anticipate this attribute- so much also depends on the environment at the time it is introduced .. or if it is picked posthumously after the artist is no more .. the new age viral videos - not sure how timeless they are ? Feel very transient to me- here today everywhere- no one has a memory of it tomorrow

Interesting topic of the week Shantanu.. so many slices of interpretation of the topic. I wonder how many creators anticipate their work will be deemed Timeless - at the time of creation if that is actually a consideration. Definitely need to chat over a cup of chai 😊 when we meet

I don’t think creators start off thinking they’re going to create something timeless, simply because there’s no formula for it. All that they seek is adoration, adulation and appreciation from as many audiences as possible. Like I’ve written - you can’t create a viral video, virality happens through forces beyond your control.
